July, 2010 | Due to the financial crash in Iceland in October 2008, the CBI has not been able to publish detailed balance sheets for the banking sector. Work is being done to catch up with the balance sheets from October 2008. The Central Bank is now publishing preliminary balance sheets for December 2008, December 2009 and January - July 2010 in full detail. The information is based on data from DMBs. However, valuation of assets is still subject to uncertainty and the data must be considered as preliminary and subject to change until a more reliable valuation becomes available.
The total assets of the DMB’s in July 2010 amounted to 2.942.6 b.kr. and decreased by 15 b.kr. since June. Lending in July 2010 amounted to 57% of DMB’s total assets or 1.675 b.kr compared to 1.658 b.kr at the end of 2009. Total liabilities decreased by 4.9 b.kr. since June and amounted to 2.569 b.kr at the end of July.
