Redemption of damaged money
From the Central Bank’s Regulation on Redemption of Damaged Money:
“The Central Bank redeems damaged notes by paying the full value of a note if both its serial numbers are visible, but only half of its value if only one of the two numbers is visible, provided that at least one-quarter of the note is included intact. Notes which are so damaged that neither serial number is visible are not redeemed.
The Bank redeems minted coin if its value is definitely legible, even though it may be worn or damaged and the inscription erased.”
